Praia de Mira Pescanova Sea Outfall
Portugal, Mira
2008

In Mira, 100 kilometers south of Porto, the plan was to build a tunnel from the sea to the interior of the country for one of the largest flat fish companies. The tunnels (inlet tunnel and outlet tunne) were planned for a capacity of eleven cubic meters per second to create optimum conditions for the fish.

To achieve this two AVND machines proceeded to the starting blocks. They each drilled 1,500 meters through the silty sand. The project was brought to a successful conclusion in 2008.
