Shaft Boring Extension Machine (SBE)

Fast and safe creation of shafts with pilot holes to depths of up to 2,000 meters

Geology Rock
Hard rock
Diameter
7-10m

The Shaft Boring Extension Machine (SBE) was developed for the expansion of shafts with pilot holes in hard rock. The cutterhead is conical in shape and equipped with disc cutters. The excavation sequence is highly automated. The operator controls and monitors all operations from the safe environment of the control cabin.

During the advance, the SBE braces itself against the shaft wall by means of a gripper system. The forces generated during excavation are transferred to the geology by this gripper system. After 1 meter of advance, the grippers are released and the machine can lower itself to follow the advance.

The muck is conveyed through the pilot hole to the shaft bottom below.

The possibility of installing shaft lining from a work deck of the SBE parallel to the advance is adapted to the requirements of the project.

Proven technology as the basis for new developments

The SBE was developed with the aim of updating an existing and proven technology and adapting it to project requirements while maximizing work safety and advance rates.
