Roof bolting systems in operation
When tunnelling with open tunnel boring machines in hard rock, early rock support is a top priority. Not only the machine personnel, but also the machine itself is protected by fast and reliable rock support. This is ensured by special roof bolting systems that are designed and manufactured by Herrenknecht Drilling Systems in line with project-specific requirements.
Our robust roof bolting units are rigid or telescopic, depending on the requirements, and can be used, above all, in solid rock even with extreme rock strengths. The rock support anchors can be placed with the drilling rigs directly behind the shield area. This means that they provide the basis for the accurate and fast fixing of the steel mats for subsequent application of the shotcrete. Roof bolting systems are designed in such a way that the wear parts are easily replaceable, thus minimizing downtimes and maintenance costs.
