Düsseldorf / Schwanau, 4 February 2011. Herrenknecht AG has been awarded the  "Glocal Enterprise Award 2011" for medium-sized companies by WestLB. "glocal" combines “global“ and “local“ and very much illustrates the close links that the prize winner has with his local market whilst still being oriented to the international markets. The opinion of the jury of three chaired by Professor Dr. Dr. Franz Josef Radermacher is that this applies very much to Herrenknecht. The award is valued at EUR 15,000. Herrenknecht AG has doubled this amount and donated the overall sum to "Bündnis Entwicklung Hilft" for the casualties of the floods in Pakistan.
 
The award was made at the WestLB's traditional entrepreneur conference in Düsseldorf in front of some 300 participants. "A host of medium-sized companies have been successfully active worldwide for many years now. And an excellent example for this comes from Herrenknecht AG. These pearls of German business do not always get the attention of the general public which in view of their performances they are entitled to. This award demonstrates the close ties we have with the small and medium-sized business sector", said Werner Taiber, WestLB Management Board Member.
 
Standing in for Dr.-Ing. E.h. Martin Herrenknecht, Chairman of the Board of Management, Kurt Stiefel, Chief Financial Officer of Herrenknecht AG, gladly accepted the award. "We realize that the award is for what we have accomplished over the past few decades. It is in no way a blank check for a rosy future. That is something we ourselves have got to work for", emphasized Kurt Stiefel. "Our success is one which is very much bound up with our employees. At the same time, sustainability at Herrenknecht is much more important than short-lived success stories and effects. If this had not been the case, then we would not have come this far.“
